VIA Rail has announced that The Ocean line, which runs between Halifax and Montreal, including a stop in Miramichi, will return to full service on June 3.

Immediately before the pandemic, VIA Rail had been offering three-round trips a week between the two cities. All service was suspended in March 2020, and resumed with just one round-trip a week in August 2021, before expanding to two round-trips per week in December.

The company says by the end of June it expects most of its services across the country to return.

While restrictions have been lifted in the provinces where The Ocean line makes its stops, federal travel restrictions still apply.

Anyone age 12 and older must be fully vaccinated, and have had their second dose at least 14 days before travel. Passengers must also have no symptoms of COVID-19, and must wear a mask.
