Elon Musk became Twitter’s new owner on Thursday, finalizing a $44-billion acquisition that has been in the works since April.

The Tesla CEO said he wants to limit censorship on the platform, in an effort to prevent Twitter from becoming what he calls an echo chamber for hate and division. He also plans to make the algorithms that determine how content is presented to users publicly available.

Musk has already terminated CEO Parag Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, the company’s head of trust, safety, legal, and public policy.
