The Anglophone North School District could be headed toward a $1.2-million deficit.

During the district education council meeting that took place earlier this week, Tim Dunn, the district’s finance and administration director said Anglophone North’s operating costs for the 2022-23 school year are projected to be $106.4 million, but the province has only allocated $105.3 million for those expenses.

Dunn said the district anticipates running deficits in garbage collection, snow removal, maintenance vehicle operations, heating fuel, and bus operations. He said extra funds will likely be needed from the province to cover increasing fuel costs. Dunn said roughly 87 per cent of the district’s operating costs are staff wages.
