Blackville Mayor Chris Hennessy has announced he will not be running for re-election in the upcoming municipal election.

He said not seeking another term will allow him to focus more on his family and business ventures.

The 31-year-old has a three-year-old son at home and recently welcomed his second child.

Hennessy's company, Hennessy Seamless Eavestroughing, installs and services rain gutters and eavestroughs. He started the Upriver Ice Cream shop last year, and also serves as a volunteer firefighter.

He said he will stay involved in the community, and support the new council wherever possible. He also said he might run again in 2025.
