New Brunswick para swimmer Jesse Canney became Team New Brunswick’s most decorated Canada Games athlete Tuesday night at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara.

Canney, of Durham Bridge, turned in a two-medal performance Tuesday, swimming to a silver medal in the men’s 100-metre backstroke para and a bronze medal in the 100-metre freestyle. He won a bronze medal Monday and a silver on Sunday.

Because of the three medals he won at the 2017 Canada Summer Games, he now has a total of seven Canada Games medals, surpassing wheelchair para-athlete Veronica Coombes who has six Canada Games medals.
