The Conservative Party will announce its next leader on September 10th.

The party's leadership election organizing committee has announced that it has adopted the rules and procedures for the upcoming runoff election to choose a new party leader.

Candidates have until April 19th to apply to enter the leadership election. There is a $200,000 entrance fee, and a compliance deposit of $100,000 that is refundable after the election is over.

The deadline for the public to become party members to vote in the election has been set for June 3.

In early February, the Conservative caucus voted to remove Erin O'Toole as party leader.

Pierre Poilievre, an Ottawa area MP and former cabinet minister, is the only person so far to announce his intention to run for party leadership.
