The provincial government is establishing a Crown Lands and Forests Advisory Board to provide input to the minister of Natural Resources and Energy Development.

The board will be composed of people who have an interest in the management of Crown lands. The intention is to bring a balanced view of different cultural and regional interests from across the province to provide a balanced view of how Crown lands are used.

The Crown Lands and Forests Act and Timber Regulation 86-160 already provide for the creation of committees such as the board. Sub-committees of the board will be created with experts in the areas of conservation, industry competitiveness, recreation, and other important areas of scientific and public interest.

Members will be appointed to the board this spring.
