Dr. Leslyn Lewis, an Ontario-based lawyer and member of parliament, has announced that she is running in the Conservative party's leadership election.

Lewis ran in the 2020 leadership race and placed third, despite leading the second ballot on the popular vote.

Lewis is a social conservative, and describes herself as pro-life. In the last leadership election, she promised to ban sex-selective abortion, criminalize coerced abortions, increase funding for pregnancy centres, and end funding for international abortions.

So Far, Ontario MP Pierre Poilievre is the only other person to announce their candidacy for the Conservative leadership.

Former Quebec Premier Jean Charest and Patrick Brown, mayor of Brampton, Ontario, are expected to launch their campaigns later this week.
