Officials with the New Brunswick Farm Products Commission announced that the minimum price of milk will increase by four cents per litre as of February 1.
The commission says increased production costs incurred by dairy producers and processors is the reason for the increase.
Dairy farmers are paying more for machinery and equipment repairs, fuel and oil, feed, custom work, and hired labour, and processors are facing increased packaging, manufacturing, transportation, and distribution costs.
According to the commission, pricing under the School Milk Program will remain unchanged for the current school year.
