The Miramichi SPCA is hoping to reopen soon, after failing an inspection in August.

The facility closed to the public on August 21st after failing its inspection. This closure caused adoptions and surrenders to temporarily be put on hold. Breanna McMahon, the acting manager of the facility, said $500 worth of renovations were required to upgrade their dog room.

The facility is now waiting on the NBSPCA to return to the facility for a second inspection so that they can reopen to the public.

McMahon said the shelter is scraping by, due to a lack of donations and a drop in adoptions since the beginning of the pandemic.

The Miramichi SPCA is currently at capacity, and they currently have a wait list for animal surrenders.
