As a result of the ending of the lockdown in portions of Health Zone 4, elections will resume in the Edmundston and Upper Madawaska region.

The new election day for voters in that area of northwestern New Brunswick will be Tuesday, May 25, with advance voting to be held on Saturday, May 15, and Monday, May 17.

Municipalities where elections were suspended include Edmundston, Haut-Madawaska, Lac Baker, Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska and Saint-Léonard. The lockdown also suspended elections for Francophone Northwest School Subdistrict 3 as well as Vitalité Health Network, Subregion A3.

The resumption of these elections means that the reporting of results for the entire province will now take place on Tuesday, May 25, after the close of polls at 8 p.m. Candidates in contests that were deemed elected by acclamation after the close of nominations on April 9 will also be declared as elected at this time.
