The Progressive Conservatives have won both Miramichi-area byelections that were held yesterday.

Réjean Savoie was elected in Miramichi Bay-Neguac, and Mike Dawson was elected in Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin.

Both ridings have been vacant since their former MLAs stepped down to run in last year’s federal election.

This is the first time a PC has been elected in the Miramichi Bay-Neguac riding since 2014.

The People’s Alliance, which was revived under new leader Rick DeSaulniers after being disbanded earlier this year, came fourth in Miramichi Bay-Neguac, and third in Southwest Miramichi-Bay du Vin.
