The New Brunswick College of Pharmacists has voted to prohibit pharmacies from offering consumer incentives for some pharmacy- related purchases, including prescriptions.

As of July 13, pharmacies will no longer be able to offer cash, prizes, coupons, or points for prescriptions, a decision that Anastasia Shiamtanis (Shamptaanees) said has been in the making for several years.

This policy has been adopted in six other provinces across the country, including in Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador. Shiamptanis said almost 80 per cent of members voted in favour of the change.
