Former Prime Minister Stephen Harper has announced his support for Pierre Poilievre in the Conservative leadership election.
In a video posted to social media, Harper says Poilievre’s ability to garner support from new members is key to a successful leadership campaign, and added that Poilievre is talking about economic issues, such as inflation and the country’s debt, that matter to Canadians.
Poilievre served in two cabinet roles under Harper. He served as minister of state for democratic reform from 2013 to 2015, then served as minister of economic and social development from February to November 2015.
